Tooth Gym is a fee-for service provider and operates outside of traditional insurance networks.
While we don’t bill insurance directly, many clients with PPO plans receive partial reimbursement. We provide a detailed superbill to make that process seamless.
Reimbursement depends on your individual plan and benefits. I recommend contacting your insurance provider before your appointment to confirm your out-of-network coverage.

Yes. Generally, patients must obtain clearance from a dentist or physician within 18 months of their initial visit to an independent dental hygienist, and every 24 months thereafter, as applicable under California requirements.
If you need help obtaining clearance, we can help coordinate communication with a dentist or physician to discuss your oral health needs and facilitate the process.
If you don’t have one, we’re happy to refer you to trusted providers.

No! Tooth Gym welcomes patients without an existing dental home. If you're unsure which cleaning is right for you, start with a New Patient Assessment. This allows me to evaluate your periodontal health, identify your hygiene needs, and develop a personalized care plan.
If you already know which service you need and have the required documentation, you may be able to book your cleaning directly.

Tooth Gym kindly requests at least 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Deposits are nonrefundable. A $25 fee may apply to missed appointments or late cancellations. Please arrive on time, as appointments more than 10 minutes late may need to be rescheduled to ensure each patient receives the time and care they deserve.

X-rays may be recommended when they are clinically indicated to help assess your oral health and determine appropriate care. Existing dental X-rays may be used when they are current and suitable for your needs.
At Tooth Gym, X-rays are included when needed and appropriate, rather than automatically added to every appointment.

A regular cleaning removes plaque, tartar, and surface stains from teeth when the gums and supporting structures are generally healthy.
A deep cleaning, also called scaling and root planing, is a therapeutic procedure used to treat periodontal disease by removing plaque and tartar deposits from below the gumline and smoothing the root surfaces as indicated.
The appropriate treatment is determined by your periodontal findings and clinical needs.

Tooth Gym focuses on preventive dental hygiene and periodontal care, so restorative treatments such as fillings, crowns, and other dental procedures will need to be completed by a licensed dentist.
If I notice an area of concern during your visit, I'll discuss my findings with you and recommend that you follow up with a dentist for further evaluation and treatment. If you don't currently have a dentist, I'm happy to help connect you with one so you can get the care you need.
My goal is to support your oral health and help you feel confident navigating your dental care every step of the way.

Absolutely! If you need a dentist for fillings, crowns, or other restorative treatment, I'm happy to help connect you with a dental provider. I can also communicate with your dentist as needed to help coordinate your care and support your overall oral health.
